Playing with Food: Turkey Day Style

I was so inspired by yesterdays Thanksgiving Dessert Table via Amy Atlas, that I went on a search for a delicious pilgrim hat recipe. I found these awesomely simple marshmallow pilgrim's hats on Family Fun. These would make adorable place cards, dessert buffet additions, and would even look wonderful sitting on the Thanksgiving table (if they last that long).

Best of all--they look incredibly easy to make.

All you need are chocolate-striped shortbread cookies (the Keebler Fudge ones), marshmallows, a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips, and a tube of yellow decorating frosting.

Just place the cookies, fudge stripe side down on wax paper.

Melt the chocolate in the microwave.

Dip each marshmallow into the chocolate until its coated, and place it on top of the cookie.

Once the chocolate is set (you can chill them in the fridge), create the "buckle" with the yellow icing.

If you are talented enough, I think you could pipe the icing around the hat to write names to use these as place cards.

Feeling a little more festive in the kitchen? Try these Turkey Cake Pops from Bakerella. Not only is there cake, but there's also caramel candy corn, chocolate covered espresso beans and tiny pretzel pieces. So innovative!

I am cracking up at these sweet little Gobbler cupcakes via Hello, Cupcake!

Thanksgiving seems to be the perfect time to play with your food... and of course save room for dessert!

xoxo,

Niki
