Save the Date Insanity

As you know, I love all things postal: the feeling of handmade papers, the look a beautifully addressed envelope, and the detail of a custom stamp. Yet, I was totally blown away by this save the date video via YouTube.

Talk about insanely creative?

xoxo,

Niki

P.S. All YouTube jealousy aside, I am still deeply enamored with the luxurious feeling of a perfectly letterpressed card! Paper lasts forever.

Mr. Boddington's Favorite Save the Dates

I hate to pick favorites but I think my favorite invitation just arrived at the store today. It's a stunning square invitation in letterpress by the fabulous and charming Mr. Boddington's Studio. This particular invitation came with a lovely liner, a gorgeous backing paper, a patterned response card and the coolest tri-fold event card complete with a map of the destination. I'm gushing because it's nothing short of amazing, just as I'm sure the impending wedding will be!

I jumped right onto the newly renovated Mr. Boddington website and blog this evening and have been marveling over their witty and whimsical post on save the dates.

See for yourself and make an appointment to view even more Boddington creations.

xoxo,

Niki

Save the Date!

Another exciting purchase from the National Stationery Show arrived today... a fabulous and affordable book filled with Save the Dates!

People often ask whether or not a save the date is necessary. I advise customers that if they are planning to invite lots of guests from out of town, a save the date is extremely helpful. It allows guests a larger window of time to book travel such as airfare and hotel rooms. Often travel will escalate in price as the date draws nearer. I especially recommend sending save the dates for destination events, or events that fall on a busy holiday weekend. Save the dates are typically mailed six to eight months prior to the event.

What should you include on your save the date? Your name, the date, the location and that a formal invitation will follow. Other options to include are: local airports & transportation information, hotels (with phone numbers and/or confirmation codes for a special rate), a website, etc. Websites are such a helpful ways to convey large quantities of information. Since most people book their travel online these days, they can link to hotel & airline websites, and give great maps and directions.

If you are planning to include all of your guests in other activities (such as a pre-dinner or post-brunch), you might want to mention that on the save the date, so that guests know how long they should plan their trip.

Happy date saving!

xoxo,

Niki

Coming Soon: Dauphine

I've been so busy since my return from the National Stationery Show in NYC last week, I haven't had a chance to gush about all of the new products coming to papery & cakery this summer. I have been looking forward to seeing Dauphine Press' wedding book since Trish connected with my sister in NYC this past fall. After receiving Dauphine's spectacular pre-show mailing (see the playing cards featured above) and finally viewing their incredible wedding & design books at the show, I took the plunge!

I cannot wait for the Dauphine books to arrive this summer. Dauphine features elegant custom letterpress invitations & stationery. The line is self described as an elegant and understated aesthetic, "with a traditional appeal that is perfect for casual or formal use." I don't think I could have said it better.

The designs incorporate urban elements, along with objects from nature and incredible florals. I think my favorite thing about Dauphine is the endless options for customization. Dauphine has a wealth of motifs, inks, fonts & papers that can be changed and customized at no additional charge. There are also silky ribbons, decorative liners & papers, fabulous pocket folders & tons of colored envelopes to choose from as upgrades. I especially love their commitment to be environmentally friendly, using low VOC inks and offsetting their carbon footprint by investing in clean, renewable energy.

I'll keep you updated on the exciting arrival of the book. Make your appointment today!

xoxo,

Niki
